Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?

Most specialist require a referral to schedule an appointment. This is to ensure that the doctor you are seeing is appropriate for your condition and specific needs. Every insurance plan is different, check with them to see if a referral is necessary.

 

What should I bring to my first appointment?

-Referral (if necessary)

-Insurance Information

-Copies of any previous X-rays, MRI’s, CT Scans

-List of current medications

-List of any questions or concerns to ask your doctor

 

 

How many hip and knee replacements do you perform annually?

Last year alone, Dr. Almaguer performed over 350 hip and knee replacement surgeries. A good rule of thumb is to look for a specialized surgeon who performs at least 200 hip and knee surgeries per year. You want a surgeon who is comfortable and confident in the surgery they are performing.

 

What are the non-surgical treatment options? 

Physical therapy, rest, medication, and steroid injections are some of the many non-surgical treatment options available. Our team will look in depth at your condition, history, and images to develop a plan that works best for you. When non-surgical options fail to improve symptoms, surgery is often the next step.

 

 

What makes you specialized in joint replacements and hip preservation? 

Following an orthopedic residency, Dr. Almaguer completed a sub-specialty fellowship in hip & knee replacements and hip preservation. During his year, he completed over 400 primary and revision hip and knee replacements and over 100 periacetabular osteotomies under the guidance of some of the top surgeons in the field of joint reconstruction.
